Al Za’atari Refugee Camp in the north of the Jordan province Al Mafraq. The second biggest refugee camp worldwide and a result of the ongoing civil war in Syria. People turn out to be very resilient, when it comes to building a new life, after a often dangerous journey into the unknown. Thanks to the Jordan Government, the UNHCR and many NGO partners this regional camp prevents people traveling to Europe, although some might have, against all odds. Previously published in the Dutch Dagblad Trouw (2013), a series of four articles about daily life inside the camp. Also available (approx 50 images) on AGE FotoStock.
