ImageRights: “New Perspectives”.

Januari 2025. An issue of “New Perspectives” from Image Rights highlights work I’ve made over the past ten years of so. What I favour very much, is the “External Perspective” on my work. As in: someone else describing it and the impact it (may) have on people who are confronted with my images. Since Images need to Tell a Story and Stories need to have an Impact.

“In our ongoing “New Year, New Perspectives” series, we turn our focus to Guido Koppes, a Dutch photojournalist whose raw, unfiltered imagery peels back the layers of society to reveal the beating heart of human experience. Guido doesn’t just take pictures; he crafts visual narratives that challenge our perceptions and demand our attention.

His unique approach to photojournalism shines a light on uncomfortable truths, offering a profound look into the personal and environmental changes shaping our world. His lens serves as a window into worlds often overlooked or deliberately ignored, and it is a testament to the power of photography to document not just moments, but movements — of people, industries, and entire ecosystems in flux.

Guido Koppes’ powerful portfolio captures the ongoing transformation of individuals, communities, and landscapes. These five images beautifully connect to our series’ overarching theme of transformation, highlighting human resilience, environmental impact, and the evolving interplay between personal stories and societal change.”
